Selling digital information products was the suggested way to make money when I first started in affiliate marketing several years ago. However, today I see a trend in selling physical affiliate products and it makes sense for several reasons.

1. People are more accustomed to purchasing online today than they used to be. You can see this because on Black Monday a couple of weeks ago over $1 billion in online purchases were made in 1 day.
The largest online retailer for physical products continues to be Amazon.com. However, it is good to understand that they now say ebooks sales are greater than hard copy books, so there is still a very good market for those.
2. You can focus on a specific product with a physical product. I know Internet marketers who now build websites based on a product model number.
Others will build review pages targeting a specific niche. For example, they might build a niche web page on focusing on lipstick, instead of building a broad theme website on makeup.
3. The affiliate merchant handles all of the details for the affiliate. I really like this advantage because you do not have to worry about collecting any money or shipping the product to the customer.
Most affiliate merchants now pay fairly quickly so you do not have to wait for your commissions regardless of whether you are selling physical or digital products. 4. You have an unlimited opportunity. When you think about promoting physical products in a targeted niche the possibilities are endless.
I have heard about one online marketer who had 84 Halloween websites. Although this is a limited theme in terms of its popularity he reported making enough money during the Halloween season to make it worth his while for the whole year.
5. Instant access is one huge advantage of digital info products. When it comes to selling an info product this has always been a big benefit.
When a customer is excited about a specific product it's much easier to close a sale if you can provide the product for them instantly.
6. You can create your own digital information products. Selling information in the form of ebooks, articles, PDF reports, and even membership sites, is something all of us can do.
We will probably never create a physical product and sell it online. Although there are online marketers who have made a lot of money by creating physical products making CDs out of digital information.
So what should you sell? You may want to take a look at doing both of them.
Right now more Internet marketers are leaning towards making a little less money on each one, but increasing the number of websites they have. This strategy is easy to do both with physical products and info products.
However, depending on the niche you are targeting you may find physical products are easier to come up with affiliate programs for then digital information is.
